About 100 students live in within the castle walls, about 50 of these are freshers in shared rooms and the other 50 are returners. The accommodation is split into several areas, each containing a mixture of freshers and returners, and the rooms are incredibly varied. A large number have en-suite bathrooms and most are spacious with a wealth of characterful features. Castle rooms also have some of the best views in the university, with many having vistas of the cathedral, the town centre or the countryside beyond!

Owengate rooms are housed in a collection of townhouses on a cobbled street (Owengate) leading down from Palace Green; roughly a third of the students in this block are first years in shared rooms. These rooms were extensively renovated in 2014/15, so are now some of the best in college, blending modern comforts with the historical charm of an old house. One of the best features of Owengate is the massive common room on the ground floor, which is the envy of the rest of Castle!

Bailey Court

Bailey Court has 3 more modern blocks and is populated almost entirely by first years, with only a handful of third or fourth years. Each floor has a kitchenette and shared bathroom facilities; the rooms are medium-sized with large windows, letting in lots of light and creating perfect conditions for living and working. Bailey Court is also perfectly located, nestled between Palace Green and North Bailey, it is close to the castle, town centre and the best-placed of all our accommodation for the Science Site and main university library.

Moatside Court, split into four blocks, is the main location for first year accommodation, housing about 115 freshers. The rooms here are smaller than rooms elsewhere in college, but every floor has a sizeable kitchen and the bedrooms have ample storage and study space. The best thing about Moatside, however, is the wonderful community that exists there – having so many freshers in one place going through the same experiences creates a real sense of unity for those who live there.

Rushford Court

For 2022-23, undergraduate students will have the chance to live at Rushford Court, which is a 10 minute walk from the Castle. These rooms are all en-suite and are self-catered and rooms are organised into single bedrooms. There are also shared kitchen facilities available, a music room, study room and a common room.
