Social Chair

Social Chair: Romy Barratt

The Social Chair is responsible for the running of a wide range of events, excluding balls, in college. This includes events during fresher’s week and Freshtival, as well as hounds (Undie club nights), Castle Day, Bierfest and new additions to the Social Calendar throughout the year. It is also the Social Chair’s job to facilitate and assist on all other events in college; including CCFS (Castle Charity Fashion Show), Panto,  arts week and those run by CCA (Castle Community Action) and the Bar team.

The Social chair leads a small team of around 5 – 10 people to help with all aspects from aesthetics to admin, entertainment to food & drinks for events. Being part of the team is an opportunity to help organise some of the best events of the year alongside meeting new people and going on socials. You may also be in with a chance of getting priority access to events and, for exceptional commitment, the occasional free ticket!

(More information can be found in the Standing Orders VI(6.11), p.15)

If you would like to apply for the Social Committee, I will be releasing applications shortly after Freshers’ Week so keep your eyes peeled and feel free to email me at castle.socialchair@durham.ac.uk with any questions!

Favourite Castle memory: The Fellows performing at all of the Mundie in the Undies. Such a talented group of musicians!
