University College Ultimate Frisbee Club

Castle Mixed Ultimate is one of Castle’s most successful sports teams, only losing one match in 3 years! Almost every player has had no experience of playing frisbee before Durham, if you are looking for a new sport Ultimate Frisbee is a great place to start. Frankly most players start out not great, but everyone improves quickly and getting better is very satisfying. Freshers are an integral part of the team and due to our small size, you will have lots of guaranteed game time. Frisbee is also one of the few sports that is mixed gender. We are also the second highest funded sport by alumni, meaning we go to funded tournaments around the country during the summer holidays!

We meet once a week for training, and then play at the weekend in the collegiate league. Don’t worry if you miss the taster session or want to start midway during the year, we’re always looking for new players!

So if you’re looking to join a new sport or just want to see what it’s all about, join the Facebook group, Castle Mixed Ultimate, and follow our Instagram (@castlefrisbee), where we will post about taster sessions and training.

Captain/President: George Smith (george.s.smith@durham.ac.uk)

Hi, I’m George Smith – the captain of Castle frisbee for 23/24 and a third-year economics student. Before Durham I played rugby for my school and local club, never having played Ultimate Frisbee. When I started playing for Castle I was seriously impressed the depth, competitiveness and speed of the sport as well as the brilliant friendly and diverse community behind it. After just two years of playing for the college I have improved immensely and would recommend anyone to take up Ultimate!

Feel free to drop me a message if you have any questions! George Smith (george.s.smith@durham.ac.uk)
