Unions and Societies Officer

Unions and Societies Officer: Robert Jansen-Spence

The USO is primarily responsible for the day to day running of the clubs and societies within Castle, including financing and promoting teams and events that they put on, and running student-led events such as Castle-Hatfield Day, Give it a Go week and the College Festival of Sport. The USO is also the link between Castle and university-wide institutions, such as Team Durham, Experience Durham and the Durham Students’ Union (DSU).

Hi, I’m Robert, the Union and Societies Officer (USO) for this year. I am a second-year law student, a rower, and a musician. As the USO I support the management of all sports and societies in college, organise the all-important Castle Hatfield Day, and do various other bits and pieces to keep the extracurricular activities at Castle running. I am also the college representative to the Students’ Union. If you have any questions about Sports and Societies or the Student’s Union send me a message and I’ll be happy to answer them for you. Most importantly make sure you get involved, Castle has so much to offer, and you don’t want to let any opportunities pass you by!

If you have any questions about any of the above, or anything at all, feel free to email me at castle.uso@durham.ac.uk
