The Fellows
President: Amelia Doherty (amelia.doherty@durham.ac.uk)
The Fellows are one of Castle's house bands, with a line-up featuring vocals, guitar, drums, bass, keys, and wind (brass and woodwind). Set up in 2022, the band has quickly become an important part of college life and was named JCR Society of the Year 2022-2023 during its first year!
Outside of the Undie, we perform at various college events throughout the year, from Freshers' Week to our summer gigs at Castle Day and the MCR’s Summer Ball. The band even helped establish a new intercollegiate tradition with the creation of the annual Castle X Hatfield Day opening ceremony.
The Fellows also regularly perform at events around the university. In 2023/24, some of our favourites included our performances at Hatfield’s Lion in Winter Ball, Mary’s Day, and Aidan’s Ball, as well as our partnership with DUCK as the band for their Pink Week charity events.
What makes The Fellows stand out as a society is the strong sense of camaraderie. Shaping the music we play is always a collaborative effort, taking into account everyone's preferences, whilst our full calendar of performances, weekly rehearsals, and socials ensures that band members quickly become a tight-knit team. The Fellows is an amazing opportunity for musicians at Castle to gain experience whilst having fun.
Auditions are held at the start of Michaelmas Term each year.
