Castle Rugby (UCRFC) has long been one of the most prestigious of the college's student-run institutions. Our squad trains once a week on Durham's 4G pitches, and takes to the turf almost every weekend. Whether you play to a decent standard or remain exclusively social under our banner, we welcome every calibre of member.
Outside of league fixtures, our knockout floodlit tournament matches are privileged to remain a lodestar for the college community's support. Castle descends on the rubber crumb rank upon rank for a well-spirited glimpse of the sublime and the ridiculous, rain or shine.
Athletic endeavours aside, our socials remain the most notorious in the calendar, for better rather than worse. Whilst we understand that it's not for everyone, we actively encourage members to get involved with both sides, forming relationships that eclipse the white lines of the pitch. To cement as much, our year culminates in an immensely fun tour on the continent - a fixture more important than any weekly period of 80 minutes. Indeed, for many members, the club sketches the punctuation marks of their time in Durham.
In fewer words, there really is no club like it: Castle boys are happy, and Castle boys are we.
