Running

President: Amy Bunce (amy.bunce@durham.ac.uk)

Welcome to Castle from UCRS! We are an enthusiastic, inclusive, and relaxed group, meeting several times a week for social runs around Durham. Unique to this society is the ability to explore our city and see the wonderful views it has to offer, learning some sneaky shortcuts on the way. Alongside training, we compete in university-wide events against other colleges such as relays and the Parkrun competition. Building on last year’s efforts, we see lots of potential in 2024/25 to make it to those podium positions. Within college, we were awarded the title of best club, the commitment and team spirit of our exec and members being undeniable. Being a firmly casual runner myself, I stress that we welcome all abilities. UCRS reaffirms that exercise should be something to look forward to and not dread. From a social perspective, Castle Running is the place to be. Not many sports allow you to chat for the entirety of the session, and the socials we aim to organise will see these relationships extend beyond the runs. Having met people through UCRS who are now some of my closest friends, I fully advocate for the club’s community spirit. So, lace up and come along to explore Durham, keep fit, and befriend like-minded people. We can’t wait to meet you!
