Tennis

President: Anna Franklin (anna.franklin@durham.ac.uk)

Tennis at Castle is an extremely relaxed and social club open to all abilities (though DU players are always encouraged). Despite tennis usually being a solo sport, we play either doubles or mixed so this is the perfect opportunity to meet people and make friends! We train once a week, all year round, though prepare to have many winter trainings called off due to the weather. These trainings will be lead by our wonderful captains Jenson and Betty whose viscous competitiveness will be sure to lead our teams to victory, or else... What the weather will not stop, however, is our socials! Lead by social sec American Josh (yes, that's his full name), both players and social members are welcome. These will be a great way to build up the team atmosphere and get friendly with potential doubles partners (though not too friendly!). College tennis really kicks up in Summer term when we start playing matches. With A and B teams, as well as our newly added C team, these are truly open to anyone who wants to play. We had great results last year, with victory for our A and B teams as well as a promotion for our B team! Summer term isn't all about the results though, we have many post exam events such as festival of sport and the second addition of our own annual UCLTC tournament. Tennis at Castle is a way to unwind and have some fun so please come and give it a go (racquets are provided for those that need). If you have any questions don't hesitate to send me an email and make sure to follow us on both Facebook and Instagram.
