Volleyball

UCVC has seen remarkable growth over the past few years, thanks to the dedication and effort of our members. Open to everyone interested in competitive play or just looking to have fun, we offer training sessions once a week during the Michaelmas term. After training, our players are ready to participate in exciting intercollegiate competitive league matches throughout the Epiphany term. Last year, we proudly finished second in the premiership among eight strong teams, and we are eager to maintain and even surpass this level of success.

As part of Durham College Volleyball, one of Durham University's largest clubs, UCVC enjoys the benefits of being within a well-established community. Unique to our club, we have secured a sponsorship from the Durham Local Agency, Urban Base, which provides us with additional budget for custom kits. These kits can be personalized with names and are typically ordered early in the first term to ensure they are ready for our intercollegiate games in the second term.

We also have two teams, allowing us to compete in two separate leagues and offering more members the chance to play and improve. Those who excel have the potential to be recruited to play at the Durham University level, opening doors to even greater opportunities in volleyball.

In the summer term, after exams, we host a plethora of events. The "Festival of Sports" sees us competing against other colleges regardless of league affiliation. The "Castle x Hatfield Day" is a fierce competition against our long-standing rivals, Hatfield Volleyball Club (who have yet to win since the event's inception XD). Additionally, we participate in a grass volleyball league and an indoor league called "Serves Up," where players can team up with friends not essentially from the same college.

Our annual charity volleyball event, "Burning Balls," is a well-known and eagerly anticipated event among Durham players. It not only highlights our social calendar but also brings us together for a great cause.
